5AM
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Hey! This is my first game jam submission. Initial concept was utterly overambitious so what you see here is two-weeks worth of desperate zesting onto undercooked burnt toast :') It is a short singleplayer experience.

inspirations
This project had many inspirations but namely Earthbound, Don't Starve, and Omori have been the primary influencers for their points of reflection, uneasiness, and surreal flavors. With Acerola Jam 0 "Abberation," these inspirations felt the style in communicating my appreciation for absurdist pragma.
theme
In this case, I wanted to dwell on the relationship between self and other, and internal reality against shared reality, imagination and the real life, and how those two can be estranged from one another. In my experience, when they collide it can feel rather visceral or even violent. But, hey, that's life!
The fact is as people we can mediate these collisions by allowing them to happen, and watch them like fireworks or like a Dragon Ball fight because it's pretty damn cool.
5AM is a time I see a lot, it's when most people are still asleep, and I like sleep. Also, it's a reference to 5th stage of the Hero's Journey (the one out of 12).
conclusion
Anyways, what I envisioned was much more grand and this here looks like garbage. In the spirit of the jam, I made everything from programming to visual assets, audio and a music, and shaders using Godot, Photoshop, Bfxr, Garageband and many, many tutorials (lookin' at you Acerola, love you, mean it).
And as it turns out, it's pretty difficult. But it was fun losing sleep for two weeks. Thanks for checking it out! Hope you like it!
